mission150-rendering_new The Parish life Center Create a unique environment for the church and school community to come together as a parish and family. This building will have enough space to hold classes, dinners, concerts, meetings, receptions and parties. A kitchen will ensure that small and large groups can sit and share a meal. Various sized meeting rooms will allow family movie nights, gathering of young families with children, elderly daytime activities, adult education classes, child-friendly space for Children’s Liturgy of the Word (while parents are at Mass) and much more. The PLC will provide parish ministries/groups, school groups and outreach programs with much needed spaces for their meetings. A teen center will offer our Youth a permanent place for studying, congregating and socializing on Church property. The Altar Society storage and workspace provides our volunteers with a much needed permanent and functional location.  In addition, we will have SOLAR energy which will accommodate more than enough electricity for the entire church, rectory, and school.

Church Needs

The roof leaks in the choir loft area and east wall on main floor and must be repaired. We will update the interior vents, replace the carpet and install a new sound system with assistance for the hearing impaired. Also after years of wear and use, our church interior walls are in need of repainting.

Diocese

Today, we find ourselves with the opportunity and responsibility to strengthen and improve a number of our parishes that cannot afford basic services to support the people of God. It is our role, as part of the diocese, to support all of our Brothers and Sisters in Christ. By our support, we help less fortunate Parishes, by providing needed Diocese-wide programs for Youth and Adults. We are called to be a worshiping, loving, and serving community and as such, we act in Christian charity to help our sister churches. Like all Parishes, our contribution is a fixed amount based on our previous Parish offertory.

The Catholic School

In addition to the already updated facade, we are in need of new fencing for the perimeter of the school. We are also connecting our Church, School and Parish Life Center together. There will be a lighted crosswalk leading from the church and PLC to our school and parking lot on the Tainter Street side. This additional new connection will not only enhance safety, but demonstrate we are one parish campus in Christ. Our parking lot at the school will be transformed into a welcoming, child friendly environment, complete with shade trees, lawn space and an arbor area for Children to enjoy their lunch. Our enhancements do not alter the amount of parking spaces.

The Rectory

Our project includes updates for electrical, plumping, paint and carpet. The living quarters will be separated from the current public offices to accommodate needed privacy for a resident Pastor, and visiting guest priests/family/friends.

St. Helena Plaza

To honor our Patron Saint, we will build a shrine complete with new life-sized statue of St. Helena in commemoration of our 150th Anniversary as a parish. The plaza will be a place to play, gather, and integrate the beauty of our outdoor area as a part of our Church welcome and hospitality. Included in the new area will be two new restrooms, accessible and in closer proximity to the church. The revitalized garden and lawn area will continue to include the Shrine to Our Lady of Guadalupe.
